About Us

Who Are We?

The Westman Regional Soccer Association (WRSA), established in 2018, is the overarching regional governing body for soccer in Westman, supporting players, coaches, referees, and clubs from first kick to high-performance competition. WRSA is the first regional soccer association formally accepted by the Manitoba Soccer Association. We work to create safe, fun, and inclusive environments so every player has the chance to learn, grow, and develop a lifelong love of the beautiful game.

As the regional governing body for soccer in Westman, WRSA currently includes five community associations in its membership:

  • Brandon Youth Soccer Association (BYSA)

  • Minnedosa Youth Soccer Association (MYSA)

  • Southwest United Soccer Association (SUSA)

  • Rivers Youth Soccer Association (RYSA)

  • Brandon United Football Cooperative (BUFC)

WRSA is responsible for the technical plan for the region as well as governance of the region, and works in partnership with its member communities to deliver programming that follows MSA and CSA's Long Term Player Development Model and the Player Pathway.

Soccer in Westman

The Westman region offers many options for soccer players. There are teams, leagues, clinics, and academies for boys and girls ages 3-18, serving a wide range of skill levels and aspirations.

Soccer is the most popular youth sport in our region, with:

  • More than 700 players ages 9-18 playing in organized leagues

  • More than twice that number enrolled in Mini Soccer (ages 3-8)

Soccer is played year-round in Westman, with both outdoor and indoor opportunities available.

In addition to youth programming, there are Women's and Men’s Senior Leagues in the region for players 16+, providing a pathway to continue playing beyond youth soccer.

Our Programs

WRSA has created and now operates both Community and Developmental streams of programming.

Community Level

At the Community Level, WRSA, with the help of its community members, runs:

Mini-Soccer

  • Ages 3-8 years old
  • Various options for mini-soccer wherever you live in the region
  • Mini-soccer is generally played with small-sided teams on small fields
  • Primarily focused on ensuring players have fun, get the maximum number of touches on the ball and develop good basic soccer skills, athleticism, and sportsmanship
  • Contact your local WRSA Member Community for more information and registration

Community Stream

  • Ages 9-18 years old
  • Registration for Community Stream soccer takes place in early March (outdoor) and early September (indoor) every year
  • If you have missed the registration date, you may still be able to have your child placed on a team depending of the spots available - Late fees may apply

Developmental & Premier (Westman FC) Level

  • Ages 10-18 years old
  • WRSA operates a club which runs programs and academies for players seeking a more competitive level of instruction and play
  • Tryouts for Developmental and Premier teams are usually held in December

Our Role

WRSA provides leadership in player pathways, coach education, and referee development, ensuring all programs align with modern governance standards and best practices in sport. Our Technical Director and board work closely with each community stream and with Westman FC to make sure every pathway is:

  • Safe and age-appropriate
  • Fair and inclusive
  • Clearly structured for development

From Mini Soccer to competitive club play, WRSA is committed to helping the game grow in every corner of the Westman region.
